He's walking away from me.
|
He's walking away from me.
His back is tense, and I know he's angry with me.
I suppose he's got a right to be angry.
He's looking back at me now with that look in his eyes.
The look that says I've disappointed him again.
I know I'm a coward for not even trying.
He's been waiting twenty years,
and I can't even try.
He's getting in his truck,
Heading back to that empty place he calls home.
Soon I'll have to go back to my own empty life,
and wait for the next time we can see each other again.
It's not so different from what we've done for the last two decades.
Except, I have this awful feeling that something's going to happen.
This feeling is so over powering,
making it hard to breathe.
Every second takes him
further and further away from me.
I want to go after him.
I want to beg him to stay
and never leave my side.
Why couldn't I just tell him what he wanted to hear?
Why couldn't I just tell him I love him?
Instead, I say nothing.
I do nothing.
I just stand and watch him disappear,
not having the courage to call him back.
A tear runs down my cheek.
Somehow, I know,
deep in my soul,
I will never
See My Love again.

Respect Your Partner
|
Never is it more important to be there for your partner than during holidays and stressful events. Below are 10 ways you can show your love and respect for your sweetheart, AND help make the event memorable and romantic!
1. Don't try to change your partner, or wish they would act or be another way. Accept your partner as who they are. This is especially true around the holidays. When you're spending time trying to change your partner, you are losing time that could have been spent getting closer to each other, and finding the best friend and lover you know is there. Surprisingly enough, the more you leave your partner alone about small things, the more they will actually start to change anyway!
2. Pay attention. Take the time to listen to what your partner is actually saying to you. At no time can this be true than around busy and stressful events. If you see your partner getting flustered about something, stop them and tell them it's okay and you're there for them no matter what. Taking these extra, loving steps can turn any life event into something truly special.
3. Focus more on your partner's positive attributes rather than their negative ones. No one likes to be reminded of his or her faults, including you. And, let's face it, no one's perfect either. Personally, I feel life would be pretty boring if we all were. So, instead of looking at the negative attributes, remind yourself we are ALL growing and learning new things. You never know, there might be one day when you need someone to do the same for you!
4. If you feel yourself getting angry, stop and really look at what you're getting angry over. Is it something you will care about in a few months or even a few days? If not, let it go. While it's important to release your emotions, it's also important to realize what is actually worth arguing over and what is not. Remember, just because your partner doesn't agree with you on something, it doesn't mean they are not understanding you or seeing your point of view.
5. Give each other space when needed. Have a girls & guys night out. When you feel your partner is stressing because they haven't taken the time for themselves, help them out. Give them the opportunity to enjoy a night doing whatever they want to do. Then, let them return the favor once in awhile!
6. Let them know you care. Know your partner interests and encourage their activity in them. So your partner wants to spend the day watching football or shopping to catch all the after-holiday sales? Make a compromise! During the day, you both do what you want to do, then agree to do something romantic that evening such as going out to a candlelight dinner.
7. Do some of their chores once in awhile as a surprise. At no other time can this be more appreciated than around the holidays. If you're hosting your holiday events, help your partner out by cleaning the place and preparing the meals. Or, if you have kids, help keep them occupied so you can both get things done more effectively.
8. Respect your partner's feelings. If they are under stress, give them some space and love. Write little notes of appreciation and thanks then leave them for your partner to find. Or, stop and tell them how special they are every so often. By doing this, you're letting your partner know that what they are doing is appreciated and wanted. Now, who doesn't feel less stressed by that?
9. Treat your partner as your equal. The golden rule of relationships! When you're around friends and family members, it can quite easy to disrespect your partner this way... often without knowing you did it. Pay special attention around family members who may not like your partner.
10. Communicate. Sit down and have a heart to heart every once in awhile. With the busy schedules around the holidays, it's important to stop and have a daily check-in with each other, if for no other reason than to keep your sanity. Everyone needs an anchor, this season agree to be each other

GET TO KNOW WOMEN
|
Tip #1
Make her feel like a woman
She chose you because of your masculine qualities. Qualities that make her feel more womanly. In your presence, she feels protected, provided for, and loved. Be masculine, but do it with sensuality and sensitivity. Be passionate, be strong, but be tender, as if she were a delicate flower. Open the car door for her, carry heavy things for her, pull out her chair. Be chivalrous, be gallant, be thoughtful, and win her heart...over and over again. Make her feel beautiful, make her feel desirable, make her feel special and important, and you'll make her feel like a woman as only a man can do.
Tip #2
Give her your time and attention
Does she complain that she never sees you, never has time to talk with you, or that you don't even know she's alive? Does she ask u to stop watching tv or reading newspaper? If so, it's a plea for your attention. She knows how focused you can be when you're working, but she feels left out. It's part of that security thing. What to do? Set aside time now and then to focus on her. Let her know she's important enough to devote yourself to her completely and she'll be less likely to feel ignored. The rewards will far outweigh the effort.
Tip #3
The way to get connect with her is Talking
Women talk for the sheer pleasure of talking. It's how they connect to people. Give her your full attention when she does talk to you, it becomes one of those romantic gestures. Got it? And you know how she's always trying to get you to be "more intimate"? If you listen to her more, she'll think you are being more intimate. All you have to do is look at her and pay attention; she'll think she's died and gone to heaven. It's that important to her, and that simple.
Tip #4
Tell her you care for her
For her to really feel your love, you need to tell her in words. Of course, she wants to hear you say "I love you," but anything you say to let her know you care and appreciate her will earn you major points: "You're wonderful, do you know that?" "I'm so lucky to have you." "Do you know how much I love you?" Big points on that one. Whenever you say these things, look into her eyes and mean it. Remember this, you cannot tell her you love her too often. This definitely wins you points on the romance chart. And, how often have you heard one of your buddies, who's gotten a divorce, say, "I never realized how much she did to make my life comfortable."
Tip #5
Tell her she's attractive
In today's culture, because of what they are taught as girls, and because of what they read in magazines and see on TV and in films, women get insecure about how they look and whether they're appealing. So, tell her regularly and let her know you mean it that she's beautiful. Compliment her on a new dress, the color she's wearing, or how her hair looks.
Tip #6
Honor her feelings
Her feelings are as important to her as your work (or maybe sports) is to you. That's why she likes to talk about them. She needs you to acknowledge what's going on for her when she's being emotional. Don't try to tell her that what she's feeling is "wrong" and don't try to fix the problem unless she asks you to. And never tell her "not to feel" her emotions. A sure-fire winner: ask her, "What are you feeling?" Then sit down and listen. She understands that you get kind of uncomfortable when she's being emotional, but if you just let her express herself and listen with your full attention, she'll think you're the most sensitive man on the earth.
Tip #7
Making up is hard to do
Does your fight with your partner often turned into a bigger event than it should have? If she's like most women, she tends to get going with her emotions and lets everything spill out. She doesn't mean a lot of what she says. Do your best to pay attention. The best way to stop her in her tracks is to admit that you were being stubborn, insensitive, inconsiderate, and hurtful. The more conciliatory you are, the more she'll be stopped in her tracks. If you make the first move to make up and offer no resistance, she can't keep fighting with you. Someone has to take charge so it doesn't escalate, and because she's lost in her emotions, it's going to have to be you. Be willing to look at her complaint and see where you may have been insensitive to her needs. If you both vow to never go to bed mad, you'll be a making love instead of war.
Tip #8
She likes to be pampered
Your woman naturally does for others. She appreciates the value of nurturing but all too often doesn't take the time to care for herself. You can score big time if once in a while you run a bubble bath for her, take her on a special trip or plan a romantic dinner, give her a gift certificate from her favorite shop or a trip to a day spa. Talk about getting a woman "in the mood." Wahoo! Sure, she appreciates that you change the oil in her car, but it doesn't really tell her you love her, even though that may be what you mean. To pamper her just remember, personal luxuries.
Tip #9
Give her respect
Throughout history, and in many cultures even today, women have been second-class citizens, looked down on as less able in every category. Only recently have we begun to consider women worthy of respect. To be the open, loving woman you want, she needs you to honor her as a person and appreciate her contributions as a capable person. Don't treat her as a child. Don't judge or criticize her. Don't ignore her or take her for granted. Don't be rude. Treat her like a lady at all times and she'll treat you with the respect that you expect and enjoy.
Tip #10
Make her feel secure
Your lady has a deep biological need to feel secure, to have a man provide for her and protect her. Financial security is obviously important, but even more than that, she needs to know you're there for her. That's one of the reasons she needs to hear you say "I love you." What really helps is to give her ongoing affection and the reassurance of physical contact. If you do this every day, several times a day, you'll give her the security she needs. Hold her hand, put your arm around her, hug her, touch her in gentle and reassuring ways. The more secure she feels, the happier she'll be. When she's happy, she's open to you.

When I look into your eyes
|
When I look into your eyes
I can see a love restrained
But darlin' when I hold you
Don't you know I feel the same
'Cause nothin' lasts forever
And we both know hearts can change
And it's hard to hold a candle
In the cold November rain
We've been through this such a long long time
Just tryin' to kill the pain
But lovers always come and lovers always go
And no one's really sure who's lettin' go today
Walking away
And when you take the time to lay it on the line
I could rest my head
Just knowin' that you were mine
All mine
So if you want to love me
then darlin' don't refrain
Or I'll just end up walkin'
In the cold November rain
Do you need some time...on your own
Do you need some time...all alone
Everybody needs some time...on their own
Don't you know you need some time...all alone
I know it's hard to keep an open heart
When even friends seem out to harm you
But if you could heal a broken heart
Wouldn't time be out to charm you
Sometimes I need some time...on my own
Sometimes I need some time...all alone
Everybody needs some time...on their own
Don't you know you need some time...all alone
And when your fears subside
And shadows still remain
I know that you can love me
When there's no one left to blame
So never mind the darkness
We still can find a way
'Cause nothin' lasts forever
Even cold November rain
Don't ya think that you need somebody
Don't ya think that you need someone
Everybody needs somebody
